Nyungwe Forest National Park

Nyungwe Forest National Park to the south of the country is over 1020 sq. km and was created in 2004, to increase tourism and diversify from Volcano’s mountain Gorilla. About a quarter of Africa primates live in this forest represented with 13 different species, over 300 bird species and over 70 different mammals. It is the largest remaining montane forest in East and Central Africa.
The park has the highest East Africa canopy walk hoisted up some 50 meters above the forest and gives a great view of the forest. Nyungwe is a great place for bird watching and for primate viewing.
